Idea Generator

Out of boredom, if you would like a random idea generator, check this out:

Riyadh Will Have the World's Largest Garden!

"The largest series of botanical landscapes in the world is being built in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
The gardens - covering 160 hectares (395 acres) - aims to re-create the 400 million-year-old history of the Earth's plants, trees and flowers."

My Employment in KACST

Next Saturday, on August 25th, I will start my first job ever, with King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology.
I am very very excited with the new experience, as it seems to be a challenging and exciting one.
The job will be in Riyadh whereas, as you might know, I am born and raised in Jeddah. And although I just came back to Jeddah after 5 years at KFUPM, I am eager with this oppurtunity at KACST, and thankfully am very happy with the support of my family.
Please pray for me and wish me tawfiq!

Microsoft's Aim to Monopolize Robotics!

http://www.spectrum.ieee.org/aug07/5391
The vision of Bill Gates seems to never cease. Well, if this project works out, Microsoft will likely reign in putting robotics into public (consumers!) hands, just like it did with the the IBM PC architecture.
The weird thing as you can see from this article is that the old Bill Gates school of proprietary software seems to be shaken with the open-source school in the fact that they are putting the software written so far for the public for their own use and development!
Also please notice how Windows CE was mentioned.
So, will we see convergnce between the two schools in the near future?
The sure thing here is that robotics will soon enter mainstream manufacture, and Microsoft knows that. They also really want to and think they know how to take over this new industry!
